5 Camping Top Tips for Babies & Toddlers

Going camping with babies & toddlers is becoming one of the go-to holidays for parents, especially as staycations are increasingly popular! Camping can be an amazing adventure, because there is SO much to explore and do.

Here are our top tips for camping with little ones:

Do a ‘sleeping in a tent’ trial run

Often children use tents for playing games, such as hide and seek - so getting them to adjust to sleeping in a tent can be tricky. We’d recommend pitching the tent in the garden ready for nap time, or overnight, and let them practice sleeping in a tent. Always try to keep the routine the same as when you’re at home, including PJs, Sleepwear etc.

Pack plenty of clothes

Little adventurers like to get messy - and we’re sure you have plenty of changes of clothes when you’re at home, let alone camping! When camping, the clothes count will increase, so pack items for all weathers and don’t forget the wellies and suitable walking shoes.

Pack a playpen

With babies & toddlers, sometimes you need eyes in the back of your head! Taking a playpen camping with you, enables you to know where your little one is, so that you can know they’re safe in baby jail, whilst giving you the time to do any little camping jobs!

Be prepared for extra naps

A day of exploring will tire your toddler out. Always think ahead about your naps, especially when you’re out exploring! We’d recommend using our BlinkyWarm™ which has a clever blackout feature, with breathable materials so your little one can snooze on the go. Check it out here.

Don’t forget the essentials:

  • Nappies
  • Nappy Bags
  • Wipes
  • Sleeping bag
  • Pillows (12 months+)
  • Comfort toys/blankets
  • Extra toilet paper
  • Bottles/Cups etc

Lastly, enjoy yourselves and your camping trip, which will be filled with memories and laughs for everyone.
